God blessed me with the wonderful chance to visit Belize this summer! I've been on mission trips in the U.S., but this was my first mission trip to a third world country and to Belize. It is a very beautiful place made up of rainforests and beach front with extremely poor people who need the Lord!
The Weavers are hard-working, kind, and selfless missionaries who have a very loving heart for the people of the Valley of Peace! It was such a special time for me to serve alongside them. I know the people felt and understood God's love and care while we spent time there.
As I reflected on my trip, I remember that I once asked a friend who was going to be a missionary in Costa Rica why he felt the need to go out of the U.S. and serve. After all, there are needy people here in the states that don't know Christ. He told me that the Bible says in Matt 28:19 to "go and make disciples of all nations".
He believes that this means to "go away". I now think God has shown me exactly what this means and why it is important to experience this. Here in the U.S. we have many distractions from cell phones, the internet, and other expensive toys, to name a few. These things get in the way when we are trying to do God's work more than we know.
In Belize, we did not have any of those distraction; and therefore God was able to mold and use our whole hearts and souls to do His work! This was a life-changing experience for me! Praise God for this opportunity!
Thank you to No Boundaries Ministry!
